Christopher M. “Chris” Gatton is the president of Gatton & Associates, P.C., formerly known as Giddens & Gatton Law, P.C. Chris joined the firm in 2009, became a shareholder in 2015 and became the firm’s President January 1, 2023. Founded originally as the Law Office of George “Dave” Giddens, P.C., the firm has been serving bankruptcy debtors, creditors, trustees and unsecured creditors’ committees throughout New Mexico since 1997.

A 2009 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, Chris received the 2009 Medal of Excellence in Bankruptcy from the American Bankruptcy Institute. During law school, he externed for former bankruptcy judge James Starzynski, which cemented his desire to focus on bankruptcy as his primary practice area. Chris earned his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University in 1998 in Fishery Biology.

Chris is admitted to practice in New Mexico, and holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.

Chris spends his free time practicing and helping teach Tae Kwon Do along with one of his daughters, supporting his two daughters’ dance endeavors and playing computer and tabletop games. He and his three dogs also enjoy getting out to camp and hike as often as they can.

Chris served in the U.S. Air Force from 1990 to 1994 as a communications computer systems operator, serving in Germany at Ramstein AB and in Maryland at the National Security Agency.
